This policy explains what information Online Painting Estimator collects, how we use it, and who we share it with. The short version: we use your details to price your project and connect you with painters, we share your contact details only with painters who accept your request, and we never sell your information.
1. Who we are
Online Painting Estimator is operated by Online Painting Estimator LLC, a Washington limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy covers onlinepaintingestimator.com and the services offered through it. Questions go to hello@onlinepaintingestimator.com.
2. What we collect
From homeowners and property owners
- Project details you enter in the estimator: the type of work, rooms, sizes, condition, finishes, the year the building was built, and your timeline.
- Your budget: what you expect to pay and the most you would pay.
- Location: your ZIP code and, if you give it, your city and street address.
- Contact details: your name, email address and, if you give it, your phone number.
- Your consent choices, with the date, time and wording you agreed to.
From painting contractors
- Business details: company and contact names, phone, email, website, address, services, service areas and minimum job size.
- Licensing and insurance: contractor license or registration numbers, UBI or state business ID, insurance and bond details, lead-safe (RRP) certification, and the documents you upload, which may include a W-9 with a taxpayer identification number.
- Work on the platform: requests offered to you, your responses, bids, booked jobs and commissions.
Collected automatically
- Your IP address when you send a request or application, kept with your consent record.
- Campaign tags in the page address (such as utm_source) that tell us which ad or link brought you to us.
- Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested.
3. How we use it
- To calculate your estimate and compare it with your budget.
- To review your request and match it with verified painters who serve your area, do the kind of work you need, and fit your budget. Homes built before 1978 are matched only with painters who hold a current lead-safe certification.
- To verify painting contractors' licenses, bonds and insurance before they can receive requests.
- To follow up with you about your request, the bids you receive and the quality of the work.
- To bill painters for plans and commissions on jobs booked through the platform.
- To keep our estimates accurate, for example by comparing estimates with winning bids.
- To prevent spam, fraud and misuse, and to meet legal and tax obligations.
4. Who we share it with
Painters. We offer your request to verified painters who serve your area, never more than three at a time. Painters we offer it to see your project details, budget and general location (city and ZIP code). Your name, email, phone number and street address go only to painters who accept your request, and to no more than three painters in total. One of our owners also owns a painting company that participates in the network, and it may be offered requests before other painters. It counts toward the same limit of three and receives your contact details on the same terms as any other painter: only if it accepts your request.
Service providers that run the platform for us, under contracts that limit their use of your information: database and storage hosting (Supabase), website hosting (Netlify), business email (Google Workspace), and, as we add them, payment processing (Stripe) and email delivery.
Homeowners. When you are a painter who accepts a request or sends a bid, the homeowner sees your company name and the details of your bid. When our painter directory opens, approved painters' business listings will be public.
Legal and safety. When required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or reorganization of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
5. Calls, texts and email
We may email you and, if you give us your phone number, call you about your request. Painters who accept your request may call or text you about your project only if you checked the box allowing it; otherwise they contact you by email. You can ask any painter to stop contacting you, and you can reply STOP to any text from us. Message and data rates may apply.
6. Cookies and tracking
The public site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our team's Admin Center uses cookies to keep staff signed in. If we add analytics or advertising tools in the future, we will update this policy first.
7. How long we keep it
We keep requests and contact details for as long as we need them to match you with painters, follow up on the job and keep accurate business records, generally up to three years after your last activity. We keep records of booked jobs, commissions and consents longer when tax or other laws require it. Painter verification documents are kept while the painter is on the network and for up to three years after they leave. You can ask us to delete your information sooner (see below).
8. How we protect it
Information is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access controls, so each person sees only what their role allows. Painter documents are kept in private storage that only our review team can open. No system is perfectly secure, so please email us right away at hello@onlinepaintingestimator.com if you think your information has been misused.
9. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy.
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Delete your information, unless we need to keep it to finish a job in progress or meet a legal obligation.
- Stop contacting you, and stop sharing your request with any more painters.
Email hello@onlinepaintingestimator.com from the address you used with us. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we will respond within 45 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state's privacy law, including the right to appeal our decision on your request by replying to our response. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.
Note that painters who already received your contact details hold their own copy. We will ask them to stop contacting you if you request it.
10. Children
Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information we already have, we will tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect.
